We are a locally-owned and operated learning company based in Boulder, C0lorado. We empower students with effective, resilient learning strategies through metacognitive learning, executive functioning support, and specialized programs that address the social-emotional needs that are the foundation of deep learning.
We believe the best way to inspire long-term growth is through understanding one's own learning. We help students build metacognitive strategies that they can implement beyond our sessions. Ultimately, we hope for our students to set and acheive their own goals after we are no longer working together.
Our tutors and instructors are lifelong educators with ample experience supporting all facets of students' educational journey. When you work with our team, you are not just hiring a math tutor, or an executive functioning coach, or an educational advocate. You are hiring a caring, strategic professional that can support in all these areas. Students struggling in multiple areas need one caring, thoughtful expert that can get to know them on a deeper level and be their partner in helping them tackle all challenges that come up.
Children are taught implicitly and explicitly to prioritize achievement, metrics, and productivity. They take math tests that reward correct answers using prescribed methods rather than growth over time. They spelling and arithmetic skills are timed, but the unique methods they use to remember those facts are not studied. Then, in high school, they stack as many AP courses as possible in pursuit of the most prestigious college entrance, rather than taking courses that allow them to try new skills or explore activities that help them feel internally motivated.
At Carly Clusserath Learning, while we recognize that achievement culture can't fully be removed from students' educational journey, we help students build a healthy balance between external and internal motivation. When students share that "everyone did better on the test than me," we help them think through why they have that belief, whether it is actually accurate, and why they should actually be proud of themselves for their hard work. When students share that they are nervous about the massive load of APs they need to take next year, we help them interrogate whether all those classes will help them explore their strengths and interests.
